I love a good haunted house story, don't you?

Then why not celebrate Halloween early this year with today's release of THE LUCIFER GAMBIT, my latest DARK SHADOWS audio drama. It's now available on CD or as a digital download from Big Finish Productions. Just go to the link below for purchasing details:

A tale of murder, madness, and dark magic, LUCIFER is also a coming-of-age story about a young woman with a terrifying past, Amy Jennings (Stephanie Ellyne). Years ago, Amy's brother Chris Jennings died under horrifying circumstances. But what Amy doesn't know... is that her brother Chris was a werewolf.

Now, Amy's attempt to uncover the truth surrounding Chris's death leads her to the mysterious Randall Manor. There she meets the sinister Isobel and Dominic Randall (Sheila Steafel & Simon Lee Phillips), a wealthy couple who harbor evil secrets of their own. What follows is a sexy, funny, and scary tale of the supernatural.

Needless to say, this was a blast to write!

And don't worry. You don't need to be a Dark Shadows fan, or have listened to any previous DS/Big Finish audios to jump on board. This is a standalone story both newbies and longtime DS enthusiasts can enjoy, culled from the Val Lewton & Hammer Horror traditions, but with a contemporary spin.

So pick up THE LUCIFER GAMBIT now. Then turn out the lights, turn UP the volume, and listen to this one in the dark (you'll understand why that last bit is soooo important once the secrets of Randall Manor begin to unfold). And get ready for the spooky!

Special Thanks to Joe Lidster, David Darlington, Darren Gross, and the entire cast & crew for bringing this CD to life!

'Nuff said. Episodes to air sometime in 2014! Details further down the writing spiral...

August is almost here and so is THE LUCIFER GAMBIT, my latest contribution to the Big Finish DARK SHADOWS series of audio dramas. Based on the classic supernatural TV soap opera that ran on ABC from 1966-1971, these all-new stories continue the macabre tales of the Collins family and their haunted happenings.

(And yes, that Johnny Depp movie last year was a big-budget remake of Dark Shadows.)

THE LUCIFER GAMBIT is the perfect tale for those who want to celebrate Halloween a little early! Here's a synopsis of the story, courtesy of the BF website:

"Don't live in the darkness, Amy Jennings."

Adolescence is difficult enough, especially when your family members are vampires and werewolves. But somehow Amy Jennings survived it. Now a young woman, Amy has come back to Collinsport, determined to forget the horrors of childhood and start anew. But growing up means confronting the truth about the world around you and Amy's rite of passage has just begun. Drawn into a world of obscene wealth, blind seduction, and cold-blooded murder by the irresistible Dominic Randall, Amy is about to learn that passion burns. But so does a woman's scorn… because falling in love can be incendiary.

THE LUCIFER GAMBIT is now available for pre-order. You can also download the audio trailer right now at the link below:

Want to know more about LUCIFER? (You knew that was coming, didn't you?) Then go to the link below. Famed British actress Sheila Steafel plays a diabolical baddy you won't soon forget:

Also, here are links to my two previous BF: DARK SHADOWS stories. Buy them all and I'll like you a lot. Seriously.

Starring Jerry Lacy as The Reverend Gregory Trask and John Karlen as Carl Collins
This one is set during the original series' 1897 flashback.

This four-CD set is co-written by Stuart Manning and Yours Truly
An epic tale of vampires, werewolves, and more... KOTD features many of the classic DS stars reprising their original TV roles for audio, including David Selby as Quentin Collins, Kathryn Leigh Scott as Maggie Evans, and Lara Parker as Angelique Collins and many, many more!

Yup, I'll be at the DC Entertainment Booth signing for my work on 5th Cell Media's new family video game SCRIBBLENAUTS UNMASKED. Signing with me will be fellow writer Jeremy (GREEN LANTERN: THE ANIMATED SERIES) Adams. Come by and say hello! We'll be happy to sign comics, DVDs, or your Scribblenauts Unmasked-related materials, plus we'll also talk DC Comics with you until we're all blue in the face!

For those who don't know about the wonderful SCRIBBLENAUTS franchise, this is gaming entertainment for the whole family. Go to the link below for more details:

I had a blast working on this project! It's soooo much fun and DC Comics fans won't believe the number of characters you'll be able to access in SCRIBBLENAUTS UNMASKED. This is the game 8-14 year old me wished existed back in the day. It's fun... it's wildly interactive... and best of all, the whole family is welcome to play this one.

Signing Details:

Time: 2pm (demo), 2:15pm - 3pm (signing)
Where: DC Entertainment Booth, San Diego Convention Center
Date: Saturday, July 20th
Featuring: Eric Wallace & Jeremy Adams

Hope to see you there!

Well, isn't this just the cutest collection of FLASH folks you've ever seen? The question is, what does it have to do with Yours Truly? Mums the word for a bit longer, but details soon. For now, enjoy the preview...

Where were you last Saturday?

Hopefully, you were like me. Out buying comic books. And getting even more of them for FREE. Yes, in case you still haven't gotten on board yet, the first Saturday in May is always Free Comic Book Day. It's an opportunity to pick up new stories you haven't read, old favorites you've missed over the years, or to discover a whole new world of geeky goodness.

This year I spent FCBD here in Los Angeles visiting four of my favorite comic retail outlets:

1. House of Secrets
2. Emerald Knights
3. Golden Apple
4. Meltdown

Much fun was had seeing the crowds, chatting with fans and fellow geeks, and getting tons of... well... free comics. (Okay, I might picked up some no-so-free ones, too, but that's my sickness.) Pictured above are fans dressed as what would be the COOLEST Avengers line-up EVER. Because it also has Superman and Robin! Can you imagine the possibilities? Iron Man and Superman on the same time? Oh, Marvel and DC... put away your differences for once and let me write this fabulous, epic one-shot. Oh, and for a villainous threat, how about a "cosmic"version of The Joker who becomes possessed by the eternal soul of Thanos, then decides to destroy the universe just to see what happens? Now that's chaos. Yeah, I'm down for that.  As long as Vixen and Storm can also join the fun, because this team needs a bit of diversity, folks.

As you can see from the pictures above (Meltdown, top, and Golden Apple, bottom), tons of comic book enthusiasts turned out this year. Every shop I visited was packed! I don't know the numbers, but it sure seemed to me like this was the biggest turnout for FCBD yet, at least here in Los Angeles.

Can't. Wait. Until. Next Year!

Going to this year's GALLIFREY CONVENTION in Los Angeles, CA? I am, and I hope to see you there. I've been going to this convention for 20+ years, and a fantastic time is always had by all!

Some of my favorite moments over the years have been chatting with new friends at an impromptu party only to realize halfway through the conversation that it was Sylvester McCoy and Sophie "Ace" Aldred (it was dark and I was just a wide-eyed newbie!), discovering the "all-new" Big Finish audios with their very first release "The Sirens of Time," finally meeting my all-time favorite companion Liz Sladen before she passed away, hearing Nicola Bryant speak for the first time waaaay back in 1993 and discovering--to my shock--that she isn't American (!), listening to the reunited cast of the 1996 movie perform a live running commentary on the film over a decade later, and--of course--listening to Colin Baker pontificate! (I love that guy!).

But the best part about a Gallifrey con are THE FANS. The people who put together and who attend this event are fantastic, fun, and friendly as heck. Because of this, I've made a lot of friends there over the years when attending each convention, and I hope to make many more again this year. In a nutshell, Gallifrey One is a wonderful testament to all-things-great about genre fandom.

Now, if you are coming this year, make sure to pop into the "48 FRAMES PER SECOND" panel on Saturday. I'll be joining fellow Whovians James Kerwin (director, "Yesterday Was A Lie"), David Gerrold (writer, Star Trek: "The Trouble With Tribbles" & tons of other stuff you love), and Steve Roberts (senior DW Restoration Team content producer). We'll be discussing THE HOBBIT and whether or not "HFR" (high frame rate) photography / content is the next big thing in entertainment. And yes, we WILL work DOCTOR WHO into the conversation somehow! Because, well, it's a frakkin' Doctor Who convention, eh?

Saturday, Feb. 15th @ 1pm

The 24 Hours of Gallifrey One... see you there!
